Project Overview


Treating flows from this conurbation area and the surrounding villages, at peak flow the Inlet works screens are capable of treating flows up to 2345 l/s.


Scope of Works


In 2008/09 Saftronics manufactured, installed and commissioned four Intelligent MCCs and a data acquisition PLC to control the new works.  In addition to this Saftronics have also developed a new SCADA system that is connected to the MCC's via a site wide Fibre Optic Ethernet Network


Technology Platform


The site SCADA system utilises a Wonderware InTouch v9.5 Client / Client architecture with Secure VPN access for support.


The Mitsubishi PLC’s are Q06 PLC’s for the 4 main MCC’s and a Q02 for the data concentrator Telemetry PLC.  


Each of the site PLC’s and HMI’s local to itself is connected via Ethernet Cat6e cable with the site inter PLC and SCADA communications utilising a Fibre Optic connection.


Field instrumentation and valve control communications are over Profibus.


An IPSEC industrial secure remote access modem is connected to the site wide network enabling remote monitoring and minor changes without requiring a site attendance.
